Don't Give Up

by Dr. Rickey A. Nation

Do you know of someone who gave up too soon? Maybe they were trying to get a job, but gave up. Maybe they were building something and gave up when it could have been completed with a little more effort.

We have all given up too soon at certain times in our life. I had the privilege of working with a very special person who was my Office Manager. She was handicapped and in chronic pain. Many days she would come to work in so much pain she had trouble concentrating. However, she never gave up. She strove to honor God with her life because He was her life. She was an inspiration to all. On June 4, 1997 she went home to Heaven. When I visited her home, I saw a plaque on the wall entitled Don’t Quit. It goes as follows:

DON’T QUIT

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is strange with its twist and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success if failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst,
That you must not quit.
“A Tribute To Shirleyn Cofer”

No matter what you are facing or going through, don’t give up because God is on your side. Romans 8:31 “What shall we then say to these things? [any problem, fear, or circumstance in your life] If God be for us, who can be against us?” God is for you so don’t give up!
