Do You Expect Marriage To Be Perfect?

By Dr. Rickey A. Nation

Recently I witnessed the split of a marriage of almost twenty-five years. How sad the children must have been to see the two most important people in their lives become bitter enemies. What was the cause, you may ask? A lot of factors contributed to this split up such as financial struggles, poor communication skills, poor parenting skills, wrong goals for the marriage and a third party or triangulation to name a few. However, I believe if this man and woman understood the value and importance God places upon relationships this marriage may have lasted.

Someone wrote:

No marriage is perfect.
Marriages are a daily creation,
not a packaged product.
Marriages are like children
who need to be picked up and hugged,
and given personal attention.
Marriages are something simply to be
weighed against expectations and rejected
when found short.
Marriages need delicate touch,
patient treatment.
The handling of it cannot always be
thought out ahead of time.
Often the way must be felt slowly,
gently, in the dark.
The danger is not in the dark.
The danger is in losing hope or patience.
                                                  - Author unknown

HEBREWS 13:4 “Marriage is honorable [valuable] in all, and the bed undefiled:
but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
