Principles For Making Good Choices

1. Always make choices that bring life.
   Deuteronomy 30:19-2 “ I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: that thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
   
   
2. Listed continually to God’s voice in His Word
   Psalm 119:11-12 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, tat I might not sinagainst thee. Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.”
   
   
3. Weigh carefully the advice or reliable counselors.”
   Proverbs 11:14 “Where no counsel is, the people fail: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."
   
   
4. Ther eternality of God removes fears of insecurity.
   Hebrews 13:8-9 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines.”
   
   
5. See the big picture through faith.
   Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
   
   
6. God promises guidance.
   Psalm 73:23-24 “Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.”
   
   
7. God’s ways are always different.
   Isaiah 5:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.:
   
   
8. Make choices based upon the best.
   
   

Jeremiah 29:11-14 “For I now the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shal search for me with al your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places wihther I have driven you, saith the Lord: and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.”

Overcoming Weaknesses

1. Truth is not relative. It never changes to what we want it to be. It is our perception of the truth that may vary.
   
   Proverbs 12:19 “The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”
   
   
   
2. Must live according to current truth.
   
   Psalm 86:11 “Teach me thy way, O Lord: I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.”
