Can You Make A Difference With Young People?
by Dr. Rickey A. Nation

Have you noticed the pitiful shape many American youth are in? Have you seem the “latest style?” It was “out” last week and something else is “in.” It makes one wonder who controls most American youth? I know but I will not discuss is here. This generation is referred to as “Generation X.” “X” means no morals, no hope, no real reason for existence-- just do your own thing if it feels good. However, I have personally witnessed many young people’s lives changed as the result of them seeking and finding God. Consider this fact:

A Study of Two Families:

Many years ago a study of two families was made and how they influenced their children
for several generations. One was the Max Juke family of New York state. He was not a Christian. He didn’t believe in Christian training. Max married a girl of low character. From this union they had 1,026 descendants. Three hundred of them died prematurely; one hundred others were sent to the penitentiary for an average term of 13 years. One hundred ninety were public prostitutes and one hundred more were drunkards. The family cost the state $1,200,000. That would be like ten or twenty million dollars now.

The second family was that of Jonathan Edwards who lived in Massachusetts. He was a Christian who believed in Christian training. Jonathan married a Christian girl and from that union came 729 descendants. Three hundred of them were preachers, sixty-five college professors, thirteen university presidents, sixty authors, one U.S. congressmen, and one vice president of the United States. This family didn’t cost the U.S. a single dollar.

The difference in the two families? Christian training or their young and early heart conversion.

Daniel 11:32 “but the people that do know their God shall be strong...”
